Definitions:
FE User → stands for Front End User; refers to those that are using the website & app
CTA → stands for Call to Action; in our platform, typically refers to a clickable button
Segmented tickets → where the community defines how many of each type of ticket are available
Description: Global Ticket Capacity allows admins to set a single total number of tickets available for an event, instead of limiting each ticket type individually. While different ticket types (with their own pricing and permissions) can still be offered, they all draw from the same overall ticket pool. This gives communities more flexibility, ensuring ticket availability isn’t restricted by predefined allocations per type and allowing attendees to choose the option that best fits their needs until the total event capacity is reached.
Key Users: Hub Admin (event configuration); FE Users (purchasing tickets)
Use Case:
For an event, the community is selling two ticket type options, General and Wristband. The wristband may get the FE User access to a free meal, which makes this ticket slightly more expensive. Those that purchase the General ticket could still have food, but would need to pay at the time of the event. Since it does not matter how many tickets are sold of each, and the community just wants to be able to plan accordingly, they use the global ticket capacity feature and designate 100 tickets total to the event. By the end of ticket sales, there are 72 Wristband ticket purchases and 28 General ticket purchases. Had they defined how many tickets of each type at the beginning to 50 and 50, it would have limited how many could purchase the Wristband option.
For an event, the community is selling two ticket options, Adult and Child. The community is not certain of how many of each ticket will be needed, so instead they decide to define a Global Ticket Capacity of 100 tickets for the event. This provided the freedom to their FE Users to purchase however many tickets they needed without constraints around only a certain amount of Child tickets available or Adult tickets available.
How to Access:
Hub Admin | To Set Up: Log into the Hub → Events → + New Event → Tickets Tab → Check ‘Use Global Ticket Capacity’ → Define Ticket Types
Associated Notifications: None
Important Notes:
If used in conjunction with Waitlist, there will only be one waitlist. Conversely, when waitlist is used with segmented tickets, there will be a waitlist for each ticket type. If Adult/Child ticket types are being used, we recommend using the Global Ticket Capacity option so that a user doesn’t experience the potential of being sent tickets for their Child, but not for themselves.
